How did you meet?
A million years ago when online dating was still a new way to meet people, we found each other on the interwebs. The world wide web brought us together and after a day of emailing we learned we lived right across the street from each other. We could wave at each other from our houses. And that small world connection didn't stop there...we knew many people in common from Brian's days as a student in Centennial and Andrea's teaching career there. We grew up maybe a mile and a half from each other. Our circles had always overlapped and yet we had never met. Thanks to the internet for doing the thing that we probably would have never been able to do on our own.
Who made the first move?
Brian did. Duh. :)
What first attracted you to each other?
Andrea: He had a picture of his cat, Puff, as the wallpaper on his phone. I melted immediately. And his sense of humor. He made me laugh and he still does.
Brian: Her kindness and intelligence.
What is your favorite memory with each other?
Andrea: I don't know how to pick just one. I think the image of him walking up the street to see me when I was in New York City. He had traveled across country in a suit and I was outside waiting and waiting for him to arrive and I saw him across the street and knew in that moment he was my forever person. I'll never forget that moment.
Brian: Visiting Andrea in New York in the Summer 2006.
What is your favorite way of spending time together?
Andrea: Traveling! We are such good travel buddies. We have visited several countries, many states, lots of beaches and our list of places we still want to go is just as long as ever.
Brian: Travel and care for our cats.
How did you get engaged?
In true Brian fashion...he was winging it! The ring was here at home and burning a hole in his pocket. I was having a bad day and he wanted to cheer me up. So in the middle of cleaning the house (a true rage cleaning)... He said, "Maybe this will cheer you up." and I turned around in my chaotic messy bedroom to find him holding the ring! I burst into tears and screamed, "What are you doing?!?" and that was probably a little confusing as a response. After I got a grip and said, "Yes!" he just kept asking me if I was sure... It was nothing I expected and absolutely exactly the way it was supposed to go!
Why did you decide on a destination wedding?
We love Mexico! After having been together for the better part of two decades... we knew that we didn't need to fulfill any traditional expectations and traveling to Mexico with all of our favorite people was just the best combination of everything we love all together!
